The job scope of a Companion includes personal care, homemaking, business and social services for people requiring their service. These people include the disabled, elderly and those recovering from illness.

Requirements for companions are usually defined by the employer. These requirements tend to vary greatly. Often, good character references are required. Qualifications in psychology, music and home economics are beneficial. Some employers also need the companions to be nursing experience and background.
As for working environment, some companions may be required to live in their employer’s home. For the care of elderly, much patience is needed.
