This is the job profile of the Groundsman.

Many types of sports require the floor or ground to be of a certain condition. The job of the Groundsman is to prepare the ground.

These grounds includes:

• Soccer pitch
• Cricket pitch
• Athletic racks
• Tennis courts
• Bowling ground

The groundsman will have to care for and maintain these grounds, especially before the commencement of the games.

Groundsmen will have to be familiar with machineries and technologies related to the maintenance of grounds.

Usually, training for the work is on the job. This job can be physically intensive. Depending of the type of sports, a groundsman may have to work outdoor as well. Ideally, a groundsman should like the type of sports that he is dealing with.
