Career Profile: Land Surveyor

The Career Information and Profile of the Land Surveyor will be described in this article. Like the job title implies, a land surveyor is responsible for carrying out land and engineering surveys for construction projects, site boundaries or land strata titles, with the help of optical instruments.

He will survey the land, record land measurements and other useful data and finally collate all the information into a report. This information would then be utilized in surveying plans and maps for projects related to land use, housing and traffic patterns.

Since much calculation work is required for the job, an aptitude in mathematics and geography would be most suitable. Every minor calculation makes a huge difference, thus accuracy and neatness is preferred. One must be able to handle delicate equipment and enjoy the outdoors.

A Diploma in Land Surveying is the minimum requirement for furthering a degree course in this field.
